La Danse de Vie Stone Lithograph by David Williams David Williams was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. After travelling around the country, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Northern Arizona University with an emphasis in illustration and printmaking. He then went on to receive his Master of Fine Arts degree in printmaking from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In 1998 David was hired at Northern Arizona University as Assistant Professor to run their Printmaking program. He has been a Full Professor there since 2009 to present where he teaches the full range of printing processes. In his work he specializes in traditional intaglio and lithographic techniques. Over the past thirty-two years of printmaking my work has changed from political economic imagery, to whimsical surreal imagery, to loose, representational subjects. Throughout it all my illustration training and love of texture and line has been forefront in my work. The printmaking techniques of lithography and intaglio have let me express my ideas in a manner in which I love. The rich range of value and interesting texture you can get creates a look you cannot achieve in any other medium. My time now is separated between printmaking and sculpture.
